Core (2016)

Cast seagrass mounted in a steel frame
Cast: 63 x 36 x 5 cm. (25 x 14 x 2 in.)

Core examines gossip and public judgment as forms of reputational violence—informal yet pervasive systems that regulate and redefine the body through language. The work considers how these external narratives are internalized, flattening complexity and reshaping the subject into a legible, controlled identity. Through the tension between fragile, permeable material and rigid structural framing, the body is understood not as autonomous, but as continuously produced through social inscription.
