The Reconstruction (2000)
Bronze, powder-coated welded steel
150 x 69 x 39 cm. (59 x 27 x15 in.)
The Reconstruction engages the body as a site of repair following rupture, loss, or imposed transformation. Rather than presenting restoration as a return to wholeness, the work foregrounds the visible labour of reassembly, emphasizing fragility, scarification, and endurance. Situated within Anatomies of Control, the piece considers how reconstruction often occurs under external pressures to conform, normalize, or recover, revealing resilience as both necessary and imposed.
